HISTORY:
Dakhlavision is an artistic project developed by film director Rossella Piccinno following her association with Luca Pivetti and Fabio Dorio and the experience of their extraordinary 14,000 km journey from Italy to the heart of the Western Sahara.

This journey resulted in: the documentary “Mauritania: Ancient Libraries in the Desert”, which is currently entered for a number of national and international film festivals; the short “Occhi negli occhi: memorie di viaggio” (First Prize first prize as the best tourist documentary at the Video Festival Città d’Imperia 2008); and an important photographic record.

Dakhlavision is intended to be an open forum for meeting and cooperation. At present Rossella Piccinno works in the Salento on projects related to the protection of the environment, the preservation of folk memories, and encounters with the immigrant community. Engaged on various projects with Rossella are Maggie Armstrong, Nicolas Gray, Tommaso del Signore, “Naemi” Forum delle donne native e migranti, “Anima Mundi” suoni e visioni del mondo… and others who she happens to meet along the way.
